From the Studio: Can you believe how fast this year is passing? We are beginning to see signs of Spring!!! I have my garden planned and I’m ready to plant as soon as this weather levels out. The Sewing and Quilting Expo in Atlanta was wonderful for those of us who attended. The classes were small enough that everyone could work. Lots of new techniques were learned and the contribution to the economy of Atlanta was significant. The QSC Spring meeting is this weekend. Congratulate yourselves as we bring home a grant to work with over the next year. We can already see progress with this as you continue to pin quilts before meetings and our charity quilt count goes up. Now, we just need to find ways to introduce others to this fabulous art of quilting. Hopefully we will see some new faces during the Strings Workshop that Stephanie is teaching April 5th. Check with Pam Kohel for information on the workshop and the scholarships that are available. Take the colors, or forms, or whatever catches your imagination about the painting you are given and make it into a quit. The quilt must measure at least 20 inches on any side and no more than 48 inches on any side. The quilts are due at the November meeting. I am very excited to see the results of everyone’s inspiration. I will have more slips of paper with paintings listed at the next few meetings in case you did not attend the February meeting. Another almost 20 quilts are underway with about 12 of those ready as 'kits' (tops, batting and backing) awaiting quilting. Come join us with any part of the process you would like to contribute.
