May 2011 Newsletter

From the President:
Howdy to all Quilters,
Hope that everyone is doing well and enjoying this wonderful spring that we have been having. I love spring when everything starts to wake up from the long winter slumber and man, has everything been busy waking up this year. Seems as if that colder winter gave it all a boost.
I am looking forward to Easter this coming Sunday. We almost always go to the sunrise service. The flowers in the graveyard should be gorgeous. It will be a wonderful day!
Recently, as many of you know, circumstances prevented me from quilting. I have come to realize how much I rely on our craft as a vital outlet of energy, and how much it has become an extremely vital part of my day and me. I used to have parts of the process that I preferred over other parts. Today I am loving all aspects and am so looking forward to putting all of those fabulous ideas that have been swirling around in my head into fabric. It is slow going right now but the key word is going and I am confident that each day will be more filled with fun than the previous.
We are also busy here putting our garden in. Here is hoping that we all have a fabulous growing season with beautiful flowers, lots of huge juicy tomatoes, cucumbers, squashes, eggplant, peppers and other yummy veggies, with plenty of herbs for seasoning. I saw some of you at the flower festival last week so I know your thoughts must be similar.
I suppose the moral of the story is that fabric, flowers and food spell fun. I hope that everyone is busy quilting away and if any of you will be traveling over the spring break/ Easter holiday will do so safely.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone in May and catching up. Until then just keep on quilting.
Lynn Lucas
