A quilt full of “Thank Yous” to Wilma Black for sharing her quilting journey with the guild last month.  We enjoyed the stories that she connected with each of her quilts.  It was particularly interesting hearing about her quilting diary of what she works on from day to day.  So inspiring, I was sew inspired that I started my own diary the very next day.  Wilma has accomplished so much in such a short time for a new quilter.

Tommy Leitner will be available to service your machine during the December meeting.  The more machines we have, the lower the cost for each machine serviced.  Currently, I have received one response.  I need to hear from more members.  Don’t forget your sewing friends too; they are invited to participate.  If we have more machines than Tommy can work on that evening, Ann Maletic has graciously volunteered her Forest Lake home as a drop-off location.  If your machine doesn’t need cleaning, you are not sewing enough!

The Second Devine Sew Free Sew Day was a blast.  Sixteen ladies and one gentleman attended.  (And he quilts!)  Donna Royson taught her Tumbling Blocks class while two members did some hand sewing and others stitched along with their machines.  Shirley Johnson, the new owner of Pieces & Patches, joined us along with some ladies who are in the infancy of their quilting life.  Welcome Frances and Gail!.  We all hope to see these ladies again at guild or the next Sew Day.  Pitty Pat and Frances brought much humor to our table during lunch; sharing their life stories with us.  I know everyone will agree the end of the day came way too soon and we will certainly do this again.

Susan Lenz, a professional studio artist, is our September guest speaker.  She will present a trunk show of her Grave Rubbing Art Quilts, speaking about how she found her way into art quilting and the inspiration she uses.  Susan has been awarded many fellowships and has received many awards throughout her career.  Please join us on September 9th to welcome Susan Lenz to Devine.

Wonderful sew day at Green Hill Baptist Church. We had in attendance about 19 and four of them were visitors.
Lone Star

Wow, after all this time we are finally bringing our Lone Star Quilts to the Devine meeting so that they will be exhibited at the Richland Library. It's not too late if you want to sew up a quick one. We have a lineup of 30 wonderful quilts both old and new, and using a variety of techniques. This is going to be a fascinating show, thank you quilters.
We will have an area set up to receive the quilts. Debbie Hotchkiss is taking care of all the information need on your quilt (you are encouraged to get this finished ahead of time). Joyce Greer will help you install the hooks so that your quilt will hang properly. Mary Cross will check you off the list when you have completed these tasks and filled out the permission to hang, etc. and Anita Bowen will load up your quilts for transportation. Please call or e-mail me if you have any questions or concerns.       ---Helen

October’s Fundraiser: Sale and Auction

Please bring your donation items for sale or auction to the September meeting, so that we have time to price them.  Think patterns, books, precut fabric collections, rulers, tools, etc., etc.  If you have yardage, please pin a note with how many yards.  Have fun bundling up coordinated fabrics, fat quarters, etc.
If you can’t bring items to a meeting, contact one of the Auction Committee members below to make separate arrangements.  Baked goods and other last minute items also be delivered early on the night of the meeting (details later).
Let’s raise lots of money for future program expenses!

            Jodi Spillane  jodilynn_72@yahoo.com
            Pat Whittle  whittle4@bellsouth.net
            Judy Carroll  jzcarroll@sc.rr.com

Helen Brown has generously donated a week at a condo at Myrtle Beach, timed to coincide with the annual Myrtle Beach Quilt Party.
Details:
Where:  Carolina Grande   2505 N. Ocean Blvd., Myrtle Beach, SC  29577
When: Monday to Monday, Jan 20 to 27.  Check in 4pm, checkout 10am
Three bedroom condo (two king rooms, one room with 2 double beds, and a pull out sofa).
Two baths.  Balcony, kitchen, laundry.  Microwave, iron and ironing board.  Hot tub on roof; parking garage with 1 designated space, and overflow parking.
There will be a minimum bid requirement, to be announced later.
Pass this on to friends at other guilds—a lot of Columbia quilters go to the Myrtle Beach Quilt Party each year.

Another auction item will be a fixture from the old Quilted Pearl:  a wheeled, triangular display rack. The triangular base is 26” on a side.  Each gridded panel is 21” wide by 72” tall, and the 3 sides fold flat or separate for transport.  They can also be laid against or mounted flat on a wall.  The grid square openings are about 1.5” square.  Included are 44 grid hooks and a few other hanging devices.  This is a terrific way to hang your rulers, cords, tools, etc.  It could also be a great organizer for a spouse with lots of tools.  A picture of it will be at the Sept. meeting and at the auction.  If you are the top bidder, Beth Karr will deliver it to your house (within a 40 mile radius of DQ’s meeting location).

Minutes for the August 5, 2013 Meeting

v Joyce Greer conducted the pre-meeting demonstration on hanging sleeves that meet quilt show standards. She showed members how to fold the fabric to be used for the sleeve, gave us the dimensions of the raw and finished sleeve's width, and explained how to calculate the length of the sleeve to accommodate the intended quilt.  She later made available a YouTube demo by an AQS instructor who covered the same ground so that interested members could review the instructions at their own pace and convenience.
v Stephanie Alexander called the meeting to order since Sue Spillane was out of town and unable to attend the meeting.  Three guests introduced themselves.  Then Stephanie introduced Wilma Black, who gave a trunk show of the quilts she has made over the years.  Wilma is an accomplished needlewoman in crafts that include knitting, cross stitch, and beading.  Her quilts spanned the traditional to the contemporary, and some were embellished with beads.  Wilma happily answered questions from the group at the conclusion of her presentation and left us with the following quote:  "There are many fine things which you mean to do someday, under what you think will be more favorable circumstances.  But the only time that is yours is the present."  (Grenville Kleiser, American author, 1868-1935)
v After Wilma's presentation concluded, there was an intermission so that the members could look over her quilts and talk to her about her quilting journey.
v When the meeting reconvened, the members approved the minutes from the July meeting.  Stephanie reminded everyone about Sew Free Day on Saturday, August 24.  Members who are attending should bring a non-perishable food donation as well as a pot luck item for lunch.
v Susan Lenz will be September's speaker.  The September meeting will take place on the second Monday instead of the first, due to the Labor Day holiday.
v Jodi spoke about the BOM challenge: a 15" double saw tooth block that uses sharks, fish, or the ocean as a theme.  Jodi said the colors should be "ocean-y."  Joyce Browder was the winner of August's blocks.
v Auction items were displayed so that members could get an idea of the things they might submit for sale.  Items are due by the September meeting, although some may be accepted just before the auction if they arrive early enough to be priced.  Some items will have a floor-price and bids below this level will not be accepted.  Baked goods for sale may be brought to the auction the day of.  Jane Gold will be the auctioneer.  Members are asked to invite their quilting friends to this meeting to maximize the funds we hope to raise for our programs.
v Lone star quilts are due at the September meeting.  The organizers would prefer labeled quilts smaller than king size.  The hanging sleeve must accommodate a dowel rod that extends beyond the sleeve.  The quilt maker must provide the dowel rod, but the organizers will provide all other hanging materials.  The hanging sleeve may be split into two or three units in the case of larger quilts.  Quilts are expected to hang in the library for six weeks or so.
v Sewing machines will be serviced at the December meeting.  More information about this event and a sign-up sheet will be provided at upcoming meetings.
v  The birth stone challenge quilts are due at the November meeting.
v  Show and Tell concluded the meeting.

“What A Difference The Thread Makes” will be presented by Jane Garrison, Director of Education for YLI Threads.  Jane received her first sewing machine for her 5th birthday and the rest is history.  She holds a degree in Textile Design and has taught almost everything that uses a needle.  Jane briefly taught Home Economics in the public school system, owned a sewing machine dealership, designed two pattern lines and worked for Bernina before joining YLI.  Please join us and welcome Jane Garrison to our meeting.

Guests are always welcome to attend a guild meeting; however, due to the expense of bringing our June speaker to Columbia, we ask guests to pay $5.00.

Reminder for the Tumbling Blocks Workshop with Donna Royson on June 15.  We are not full and will be opening the class to other guilds.

Minutes for the May 6, 2013 Meeting

Anita Bowen conducted the pre-meeting demonstration on two-color binding. She distributed printed directions of the method and then showed the members the process using a number of samples.
Sue Spillane called the official meeting to order at 7 PM.  She welcomed the guests and then asked Stephanie Alexander to introduce the evening's speaker, Cathi Gainey.  Cathi runs Shakerwood Woolens in Rock Hill (http://www.shakerwoodwoolens.com/index.html.)  She described the wool dyeing process and circulated many samples of her fabrics used in a variety of projects she completed over the last several years.  She demonstrated how she uses both cotton and wool fabrics in projects, and she spoke about the threads and tools she uses to complete her work.
After Cathi's presentation concluded, there was an intermission so that the members could look over Cathi's samples more closely and purchase woolen fabric for their stash as well as instructions for projects they wanted to do.
When the meeting re-convened, Jodi Spillane described the June Block-of-the-Month, "Wee Scottie."  Members may complete the block using any fabrics they choose.  Jodi's sample showed a black & white dog with a multi-colored bow on a white background.  Members might want to keep this color combination in mind so that June's winner gets blocks that coordinate reasonably well.  Maggie Klawitter won the purple-and-white May blocks.
Individual chairs reported in.  Of note:  two quilts were finished for charity; Children's Garden will take pillowcases; Jane Garrison will speak at next month's meeting; Anita Bowen was asked to investigate a Quilt Trail trip for 2014; and Donna Royson's tumbler block class was announced.
There was a round of applause for Pam Kohel, who will be taking over as second vice-president.  Thank you, Pam.
Show and Tell concluded the meeting.  Congratulations to Joyce Greer, who won a second place prize at the MQX show in New Hampshire for the quilting she did on Jane Gold's Christmas-themed quilt.  Registration for the St. Christopher retreat is open.  There will be a sew-in for Quilts of Valor.

Please join us as we welcome Cathi Gainey, Shakerwood Woolens, to our May meeting.  Cathi has been doing a variety of handwork since her grandmother taught her needlepoint at 14 years old.  She made her first quilt in high school and hasn't looked back.  Now, after more than 30 years of quilting, she has come full circle by combining her love of quilting with her enjoyment of hand applique' and admiration of beautiful hand-dyed wools.
Cathi will also have products for sale following the program, so remember to bring cash or your checkbook.

A small but powerful group of ladies came together at Green Hill Baptist Church last Saturday for the inaugural Devine Sew Free Sew Day.  A huge THANK YOU to Pitty Pat for securing our space.  We sewed on our projects, shared stories and had a show-and-tell.  The cherry pie pot holder looked good enough to eat.  Members will see the technique in a future Demo.  Participants shared in a delicious pot luck lunch that included a wide variety of choices.  It is funny how no two people brought the same thing.  The collection table for the emergency food pantry looked pretty full too.  I'm so proud to be a member of Devine.

Mark your calendar for our next Sew Day scheduled for August 24th.  A flyer will be out soon.

See separate attachment for the Tumbling Blocks workshop by Donna Royson on June 15.

Minutes for the April 8, 2013 Meeting
Sandra Baker conducted the pre-meeting demonstration on quilt labels. She brought several of her own quilts to show how unique labels can help enhance a quilt if they are made specifically in the style and design of the quilt top.
Sue Spillane called the official meeting to order at 7 PM.  Guests and the two new members were invited to introduce themselves.  The minutes from the last meeting were approved with the following changes:  Donna Royson conducted the March demonstration, not Donna Bryan; and Joyce Greer had her quilts accepted into the New England MQX Quilt Festival in Manchester, New Hampshire (4/11/13 to 4/13/13) and not the Fall quilt show in Manchester.
Geri Smith, the treasurer, gave a brief report on the Guild's bank balance.
Beth Karr won the March BOM blocks.  Jodie spoke briefly about the April block pattern and asked the members to use purple, black, and white as the block's fabric colors.  She also asked members to use the colors as indicated in the block pattern, with the white and black fabrics on the outside and the purple concentrated in the middle.
Helen Brown reported on the Lone Star Quilt exhibit to be held this Fall at the Richland public library.  She said that all of the directions were now posted on the Guild's Web site, and she asked members who planned to submit a Lone Star quilt for the exhibit to fill out a form to indicate their intent to participate.
Sue reported that the Guild needs a second vice-president to take Pat Harwell's place.  Pat needs to resign the position due to other commitments.  Discussion about the Program Chair's duties followed.
Anita Bowen was the evening's speaker.  Anita, also known as "The Galaxy Star Lady," showed the first quilt she made at the age of 12 with her grandmother.  She recruited members to read about the benefits of doing craft projects, using text from an article that appeared in Martha Stewart's "Living" magazine.  Members took a quiz to determine if they were right- or left-brain dominant and then Anita ended the presentation by urging us to clear out the clutter in our studios and work areas.  By doing this, we would have a clear mind and the freedom to begin work on a project immediately without having to search for tools, supplies, or space.  For inspiration, she advised us to keep a journal or notebook and to carry it with us at all times.
Show and Tell followed Anita's presentation, and then the meeting was adjourned at 8:50 PM.

Please join me in giving a huge shout out to the Thompson sisters, Joyce Thompson Greer and Pat Thompson Whittle for their work in making the workshop with Aby Dolinger such a great success.  After returning from Camp Gravatt a few days earlier, Joyce reloaded her car with the power strips, extension cords, irons and ironing surfaces, bed risers, not to mention making and providing lunch for the attendees.  And Pitty-Pat for securing Green Hill Baptist Church as our workshop location.  Also, thank you to President, Sue Spillane, for enhancing our lunch with her homemade chili and those of you who helped with the set-up, breakdown and clean-up.  You ladies rock!

Our April 8th program, Rising to the Challenge, will be presented by Anita Bowen.  This program is a humorous approach to getting out of the creative rut, deciding if you are a right or left brain thinker.  Anita will help you find a little spark of creativity that will spur you on to the next project. Anita' program will be interactive and participatory!  Please bring a pen or pencil and at least a piece of paper that is 8 1/2" x 11"!! Thanks!

Mark your calendars for the Inaugural Devine Quilters Sew Free Sew Day on April 20th, 2013.  See the flyer attached to the newsletter to register.

Financial Report

Minutes for the March 4, 2013 Meeting

MEMBERS NOTE: The date of the April meeting has been moved from the first to the second Monday, because the church will be closed for the Easter holiday.  We will meet on Monday, April 8th.

Donna Bryan offered the pre-meeting demonstration.  She showed the guild how to construct the block-of-the-month scheduled for delivery at the April meeting.  The members were wowed by the technique.  For those who wish to compete the monthly selection and enter the drawing, the colors chosen for the block are red and cream.

Sue Spillane called the meeting to order at 7 PM, and Stephanie Alexander introduced the meeting's speaker, Abigail Dolinger.  Aby's talk was entitled "It's Not About the Quilts."  She spoke about and showed quilts she had made, with a timeline based on where she and her husband were stationed during his time in the military.  Aby was a member of Devine Quilters at one point, and one of the quilts she showed was a gift from the guild to her when she and her husband left Columbia for an assignment in Europe.  In the end, Aby told us it wasn't about the quilts so much as about the friendships she forged through quilting at each location she lived.

Aby had conducted a class prior to the guild meeting, and those who attended showed their quilt tops to the group.  An intermission was called so that members could study Aby's quilt up close and purchase some of her patters for their own use.

Sue reconvened the meeting and introduced guests and new members.  Current members who had announcements regarding classes, workshops, and other relevant events were recognized and given the floor.

The minutes from February were approved.  The treasurer gave a report.  The Lone Star co-chair said there were no updates at this time.

Announcements of note:  Joyce Greer had two quilts juried into The World Quilt Show - New England XI, August 15th-18th, in Manchester, New Hampshire.  Congratulations, Joyce.

Show and Tell included quilt tops from the February retreat and camp at Bishop Gravatt.  The meeting concluded with a drawing of door prizes contributed by Aby Dolinger.  Thank you, Aby!

Block of the Month:  Jodi Spillane won the February blocks.  Helen Brown delivered a quilt top for charity from her win of the January blocks.  Jodi indicated that the March BOM challenge was to make just one block according to the pattern directions.

Guild Challenge for 2013:  The challenge this year is "What's Your Birthstone?"  Members who wish to participate are asked to use their birthstone color, in addition to complementary colors, to complete a quilted project of any size or shape.  The directions for the challenge are posted on the guild's blog.

March 2013 Newsletter

From the President:

It is Saturday (approx. 5:00 pm) and it is snowing out as well as some sleet. This am when we left Irmo it had just started to rain.  When we got to the Shop Hop in Lancaster, SC it was starting to snow--flakes up to nickel in size.  Continuing to Gastonia, NC, the rain ended.  Then rain almost almost all the way home.  What crazy weather.  Ten minutes later the sun is now out, "stuff" will melt.  It was a great to go on our Shop  Hop, which included Mary Jo's and Sew Much Fun.

Thank you Margaret for your demonstration of three generations of quilts.  Very informative and well presented.

On March 4th we welcome special guest Aby Dolinger, an original member of Devine Quilters.  Aby and her husband, Army Chaplain Randy Dolinger, continue to be stationed wherever the Army sends them.  Once asked what she does when they are stationed where no quilt guilds exist, Aby enthusiastically responds, "I start one!"  Her presentation, "It's Not About the Quilts" is a lecture that friendship among quilters is the real treasure and includes a trunk show of the friendship quilts she has collected during military moves....even some from her time in Columbia.

Non-members are always welcome; however, to help defray the costs of bringing Aby to Columbia, we ask our March guests to pay a $5.00 fee.

The annual Devine Challenge will be issued at the March meeting.

A few spaces remain for the March 2nd workshop with Aby at Greenhill Baptist Church in West Columbia.  Detailed information is available in the February newsletter or you can contact Program Chair, Stephanie Alexander, at SALEXA1636@aol.com for more information.

Mark your calendars for the Inaugural Devine Quilters Sew Free Sew Day on April 20th, 2013.  See the flyer attached to the newsletter to register.

Devine Demos

Our Demo for March will be by Donna Royson: Anita’s arrowhead the ‘slick’ way, as shown in ‘Rotary Cutter Revolution’. This will also be the block for the month for March.

Lone Star Exhibit at Richland Co. Library

The Devine Quilters Guild will have an exhibit featuring the Lone Star Quilt design.

1. We define a Lone Star Quilt (also known as The Mathematical Star, The Star of Bethlehem, Star of the East,, Morning Star, etc.) as made of what appears to be diamond shapes to form an “eight point star, points from the center out“. The star may be appliquéd or pieced.

2. All quilts must have a hanging sleeve that ends before the edge of the quilt on both sides and a dowel that extends beyond the hanging sleeve but cannot be seen from the front of the quilt. The dowel must be large enough to insert a screw hanger in the end so that the library can hang the quilt. The library will hang any size quilt including king size as long as the dowel supplied by the quilter will support the quilt. They are willing to add extra hangers on the back of the quilt, as long as the quilter has slit the hanging sleeve to enable the attachment of more hangers. Talk to Helen if you don’t understand this.

3. Variations of the Lone Star are acceptable.

4.  All quilts are due; finished, labeled, with hanging sleeve and dowel rod, at the Devine Quilter’s meeting on September 9th.

5.  Only members of the Devine Guild may participate in the show.

6.  The Committee reserves the right to reject quilts for pet hair, smoke and other odors.  The Library reserves the right to not hang an item if it is contrary to their mission.
---Helen Brown

Financial Report

Minutes for the February 4, 2013 Meeting

Jodie Spillane conducted the pre-meeting demonstration on constructing baskets using clothesline wrapped with fabric.  She brought several completed baskets to inspire the members to make their own from scrap fabrics they might have in their stash.

Sue Spillane convened the members and introduced the new members and visitors.

The minutes for the January meeting were approved.  Pat Harwell, who volunteered to be the independent reviewer of the guild’s books, approved the financial report for FY 2012.  Geri Smith then took the floor to explain the proposed budget for FY 2013.  There was some discussion about how income was balancing against the proposed expenditures.  The members generally agreed that, at this stage of the game, the proposed budget was acceptable.  A motion to accept the budget as proposed was made from the floor, seconded, and the budget passed with no opposition.

Helen Brown won the January BOM blocks.  Queen Charlotte’s Crown was proposed for the February BOM.  The block’s directions, for those who missed the February meeting, are available here in the newsletter.

The evening’s program featured Margaret Kaufman, who brought a trunk show of her family’s quilts.  Margaret gave a wonderful presentation of the antique quilts and included some of her own quilts to inspire us.

After an intermission which allowed the members to view Margaret’s quilts up close, the members took up the question of whether the guild should change its status from 501(c)4 to a 501(c)3.  Given the cost associated with the change, the members decided to retain the current status.

Helen Brown asked all members who plan to submit a Lone Star quilt for the Fall exhibit at the library to please fill out a form of intent.  The finished quilts must be brought to the September meeting, and they will be taken to the library in October.  Helen will provide hanging sleeve instructions and other size requirements/limitations in the near future.

The March meeting will feature Abigail Dolinger, who will also conduct a class on March 2nd, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, at Green Hill Baptist Church in West Columbia.  The class is called “Monkeyshines,” in reference to the tricks you will learn.  You will have four blocks large enough to complete a baby quilt at the end of the day.  You may also choose to do “Pinwheel Panache” if that project suits your needs better than “Monkeyshines.” The workshop will be limited to 20 quilters.  To see if seats are still available, contact Stephanie Alexander at salexa1636@aol.com or 865-1483.

Kudos to Leslie Mullins who received a grant from the International Machine Quilters Association (IMQA) to attend the Machine Quilters Showcase in Wichita, Kansas, in May.  The showcase is called “Dreamcatcher” and information is available on line for those who are interested.

Block of the month

The inaugural Block of the Month (BOM) brought in 78 6 inch (or 19 12”) blocks, and raised $37!

The BOM for the March meeting is to be done in lime green (any fabric that falls in the lime green family) and white/white on white fabrics.  If you didn’t get the pattern at the meeting, here is the link: http://www.quilterscache.com/Q/QueenCharlottesBlock.html

Bring your block(s) and $1 per block to be entered into the drawing for all the blocks.  If you didn’t make a block but want to participate in the drawing, you pay $2 per entry.

Minutes for the January 7, 2013 Meeting

Wilma Black conducted the pre-meeting demonstration on power piecing. Techniques included how to
stitch a speedy nine-patch and how to use a foundation to piece string quilt blocks on the diagonal. She
recommended Billie Lauder’s Quick Trick books to members who were interested in the techniques.

After the demo, Sue Spillane convened the members to hear Jodi B. Raines of Inman (Spartanburg County) speak about pictorial quilting and thread painting. Jodi exhibited quilts she made as part of a grant from the Spartanburg cultural center. Using the grant funding, she photographed historically significant buildings in the county and then captured in fabric and thread the architecture and the surrounding landscape from the photos. She also wowed the members with her miniatures and some 3-dimensional fabric pieces that
incorporated thread painting.

As part of her presentation, Jodi introduced the members to Bo-Nash 007 bonding powder. Jodi uses the powder to fuse tiny fabric pieces to create life-like leaves and other elements in her quilts. The powder is available at Jo-Ann’s and on Amazon. Jodi also recommended Habotai silk as a foundation for thread painting (available at Dharma Trading) and Alison Holt’s books on machine embroidery. Alison also has a number of YouTube videos where she demonstrates her techniques.

After the members had an opportunity to examine Jodi’s quilts up close, Sue called the meeting to order to conduct business.

The minutes for the December meeting were approved. Sue told the members that the budget would
appear in the newsletter for their review, and a vote would be taken in February. She asked for members who are not on the Board to volunteer to conduct the audit of our finances for the 2012 program year. She also asked for IT-savvy members to volunteer to serve on a blog committee which would be charged with making recommendations for updating the current blog format and perhaps developing some revenue-generating components.

Pat Whittle has volunteered to prepare clip-on name tags for the members. Members are also free to make their own name tags, provided first names on the tags are large enough to be read easily.

The newsletter will begin accepting ads from both individuals and businesses. The price of
corporate/business ads has not yet been determined. The Board recommended the cost of ads for
members to be $3, but a motion was not made to accept this.

Jodi Spillane explained the rules for the block-of-the-month activity. The floor motioned that the price of monthly participation be raised from $.25, as recommended by the Board, to $1. The motion was seconded and carried. The $2 price for those who want to participate but not make a block was not changed.

Margaret Kaufman described the trunk show she will deliver at the February meeting. The 15 charity quilts. Completed as a result of charity night were displayed.

The members were told that the Board is exploring a status change from 501(c)4 to 501(c)3. This change would allow any donations made to the guild to be tax-deductible. At present, donations are not tax-deductible. Geri Smith is heading up this activity, and willmake her recommendations to Sue for presentation to the members at a later date.

Mary Cross is soliciting “orphan blocks” from the members in time for the February quilt camp. She hopesto put together some charity quilts from the donations. Any color combinations and any size blocks will be welcomed.

Congratulations to Beth Stewart-Ozark who was awarded a $600 grant for her work by the Charlotte Quilt Guild..
